Job Interview Outfits in the Time of Zoom

A major component that can impact the outcome of any job interview is how you present yourself. While being prepared with materials and knowledge is the most obvious and important part of preparation, how you appear to employers, as shown through your style and presentation, can be an added bonus that sets you apart from other candidates.  You may find yourself rummaging through your closet the night before, in search of the perfect outfit to make the perfect first impression, but ultimately just settle on that boring old white button-down or some sort of depressing equivalent.

Dressing well for interviews is important not only in making an impact on your interviewer, but also in boosting your own confidence and making you feel your very best. While staying away from anything too revealing or loud, try to experiment with colors, patterns and fabrics that make you stand out and feel good. Take that basic button-down up a notch by opting for a silk version, or a jewel toned shade that adds a little playfulness without being too over the top. Add a patterned cardigan or a statement blazer that shows that you mean business, but you’re not afraid to make a statement. Subtle tweaks to the basic interview outfit formula will help you to be more memorable and make you feel a step above the rest.
